Andong’s research interests include narrative organization of space, cinematic aided research, garden studies, and contemporary Chinese urbanism. He taught postgraduate courses at University of Cambridge and Nanjing University. He has written widely on the subjects of city, cinema and garden in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Architecture (UK), Studies in the History of Gardens & Designed Landscapes (UK), arq: Architectural Research Quarterly (UK), The Architect (China) and World Architecture (China). He has guest-edited the Cinematic Architecture (special issue of The Architect (China), profile no.136) and co-edited with François Penz the Urban Cinematics (Intellect Books, 2011). He currently is Professor In Urbanism and Architectural Theory at Nanjing University, and also works as a freelance consultant on architectural and landscape design, and a filmmaker of urban documentaries.
