Project Info:
The proposal is an envelope of the second construction phase of Pinakothek der Moderne The barrack house can be described as a housing combined with a longitudinal and corner volume, the building only aligns to the street line. Therefore, forming a square in the middle as a void (which is shown in diagram 01). Due to the different sizes of the housing , the “footprint changes” in which one is stepping forward and one steps backwards. After the world war II, the barrack building was demolished in 1920. The new museum was constructed in a completely opposite situation, in which they are built within void instead of following the existing street-line. Now, the relationship between building and void changes completely.
